Major achievements of the recent years (3 years) of the Department of ICT:
Last 31/06/2013 AD. This department was formed under the Department of Information and Communication Technology on. The main task of this department is to ensure and coordinate the use and application of ICT at all levels of government with a view to making Bangladesh a middle-income country through the implementation of Vision-2021 announced by the government. Already head office, 64 district offices and 48 upazila offices have been set up. Out of the total 656 manpower approved by the department, 202 officers including 195 ICT officers are working. Activities have been taken to recruit 333 first class officers and 04 second class officers through PSC. Gazette notification of "Department of Information and Communication Technology (Gazetted and Non-Gazetted Officers and Employees) Recruitment Rules, 2015" has been published. 200 ICT officers from two projects of Bangladesh Computer Council have been transferred to the Revenue Department of the Department with special consideration of Hon'ble Prime Minister. The process of setting up 2000 computer labs in various educational institutions is underway through the project titled “Establishment of Computer and Language Training Labs in Educational Institutions Across the Nation” which will be completed in June 2017.
Problems and Challenges:
According to the organizational structure Receipt of manpower. Purchase / procurement of all vehicles, goods and office equipment of TO&E. Receipt of necessary budget for conducting training and training on ICT / e-services for officers / employees at district level.
Future plans:
Implementing e-governance by ensuring and coordinating the use and application of ICT in all government departments / institutions at district level. Increase awareness in ICT and provide necessary counseling services to the members of the ICT Club formed by Sheikh Russell Digital Lab based in the educational institution and motivate the members of the club in freelancing by organizing training on ICT.
